Submitting proposals to the MP2026 Awards implies compliance with and acceptance of these terms and conditions.
What are the MP2026 awards?
The organizers of MP2026, AIMPLAS and AINIA, are promoting the granting of TWO industry-relevant AWARDS for this new edition of the event.
The MP2026 AWARDS aim to recognize innovations focused on the development of BARRIER PACKAGING AND SUSTAINABILITY SOLUTIONS that have been created by professionals and organizations for application in the food industry. These innovations may be applicable to any area of the value chain: materials, packaging, equipment, processes, etc.
In this third edition of the awards, two independent categories are proposed:
- Solutions aimed at flexible packaging (FILMS)
- Solutions aimed at rigid packaging (TRAYS AND/OR BOTTLES)
Who can apply?
The MP2026 AWARDS are addressed to companies from across the packaging value chain (material manufacturers, film manufacturers, sheet manufacturers, preform producers, packaging manufacturers, packaging equipment suppliers, recycling systems, packaging systems, etc.) that are contributing to the development of the sector through sustainable innovations.
There is no limit to the number of applications per entity, and participants may submit all products they consider meeting the evaluation criteria.
Any entity submitting an application must have at least one representative registered as an attendee at the event.
What is the deadline to submit nominations?
Nominations may be submitted from 1 November 2025 to 13 February 2026.
How will the nomination admission and evaluation process be carried out?
- Initial verification: All required criteria for the submitted nomination and its assigned category will be verified. The organizers reserve the right to request additional information if needed and to reassign entries between categories if necessary.
- Market impact: The overall concept of the submitted development will be evaluated, including how close the product is to market implementation. Positive economic impact, such as cost savings compared to existing products, will also be considered.
- Environmental impact: All products must demonstrate an environmental benefit to be eligible. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results, Carbon Footprint data, product certifications, or other supporting evidence will be evaluated.
- Technical quality and performance: The technical properties of the product and whether it represents an improvement over current market offerings will be assessed.
The second evaluation stage will take place during the MP2026 event. Finalists will have a 5-minute demo pitch to present their product. A voting system will be set up for Congress attendees to select the award winner.
When and how will the shortlisted nominations be announced?
Out of the submitted candidates, three finalists will be selected for each category.
Finalists will be notified at least 20 days prior to the event date so they can confirm their attendance for the demo pitch presentation of their nomination and for the congress dinner, where the winning nomination will be announced and the award will be presented, along with recognition of the finalists.
Finalists must bring samples of the developed product for the presentation and for display throughout the duration of the congress.
When will the awards be given?
The awards ceremony will take place during the MP2026 gala dinner on the evening of April 21, 2026.
The entities shortlisted as finalists will be notified in advance, and a representative from their organization may attend the gala dinner as a guest to receive the distinction from the organizers and/or sponsoring companies and, if applicable, the awarded prize.
What are the advantages of submitting a nomination?
Being a finalist or winner of the MP award offers the following advantages:
- The three finalist nominations in each category will present their products in a dedicated session within the MP2026 program.
- They will also have space at the congress venue to display a sample of their product or innovation.
- They will receive special mention in the media through the publication of their product in one of the MP2026 press releases.
- The two winning nominations will receive invitations for two people from their organization to attend the next edition of the event.
What should be taken into account when submitting a nomination?
Proposals must be made by the individuals or institutions that own them, who submit the proposal to the MP2026 Awards (or by someone holding their written authorization to do so, acting as their representative). Proposals must not infringe the rights of third parties, especially avoiding violations of third parties’ industrial and/or intellectual property rights. For this reason, the owner of the proposal and, if applicable, their representative, will be responsible for the legality of the proposal, releasing the Organization from any liability that may arise from third-party claims. The Organization reserves the right to withdraw any submitted proposal, even as a precautionary measure, without this implying any presumption of illegality or incurring liability for the Organization, except, of course, in cases of willful misconduct.
